Veterinarian (VET) Toledo Animal Rescue Contract · $55 / hour
Toledo Animal Rescue (formerly The Toledo Animal Shelter Association), a 501(c)(3) non-profit since 1927, is seeking a part-time, contracted veterinarian(s) to provide quality veterinarian services for the pets at our animal shelter. T.A.R. is the area’s premier no-kill facility.
Services required include spay and neuter surgeries, minor surgeries, illness diagnostics and treatment, health exams, blood draws, lab interpretations, and other basic vet work for shelter pets.
Experience / Requirements: Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) required. Successful work experience in Spay and Neuter Clinic/Shelter preferred, but new graduates will be considered for the position. License in good standing with Ohio state veterinary board. Must pass background check. Must supply proof of liability insurance. Strong interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations. The ideal person for this job would be a team player, personable, professional, upbeat, and energetic, takes initiative, uses tact and diplomacy. Able to perform an average of 2-3 surgeries per day. Able to maintain clear communication with internal staff on all levels. Proven written and verbal presentation skills. Work requires continual attention to detail. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated good working habits in an environment that requires multitasking and multiple demands on time.
Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods of time while performing work requiring concentration and manual dexterity. Lifting dogs and cats of all sizes, bending, stooping and walking on a daily basis.
